  • The Art of Eve Ventrue

Eve Ventrue is a professional digital artist hailing from Germany. Her homeland is definitely an influence. Many of her character concepts are warriors clad in baroque looking armor, set in wintry landscapes. Eve’s work has great presence. One’s eyes are easily drawn to her subjects. (more…)

  • Blade’s Bum Wrap – A Trilogy Deserving More Recognition

Why does Marvel’s first successful trilogy get such little recognition. I asked myself this question after recently watching all three movies. I bought the trilogy for a lousy $10.00 at Wal-Mart. I wasn’t disappointed. (more…)

  • The Book of Lost Things By John Connolly

The Book of Lost Things is a poignant story written by John Connolly. Its main character is a boy named David. The reader learns early on that David’s mother is terminally ill. He often reads old stories to his mother in order to comfort and ease her suffering. These stories stay with David long after his mother’s passing. Eventually he begins to “hear” books speaking aloud and experiences seizure like symptoms. (more…)

Loki was originally a Norse and Germanic god of fire. He is infamous for being a mischief-maker, trickster, and shape changer. Loki is unique in his pantheon. • Train wreck – NBC’s Dracula

I’m all for clever re-imaginings and artistic license. But NBC’s Dracula is an odd take on Bram Stoker’s tale. I can’t make too many judgments about a show that’s just premiered. But watching this felt like a freight train full of quirkiness hitting a brick wall. With so many novels and movies starring fanged creatures of the night, this show needed to be distinctive. And it is…just not in impressive ways.  (more…)

  • Legacies: The Voices Behind Kain and Raziel

The Legacy of Kain/Blood Omen series was before it’s time in many respects. But its greatest contribution to the video game industry was its emphasis on voice acting. This was an underdeveloped aspect until this series hit the scene. Games released afterwards followed it’s example and hired professional actors to voice their characters. (more…)

  • Maleficent – October’s Villain of The Month

    Guest Post by Agent Palmer

Disney villains rarely fill anyone with fear. Jafar from Aladdin, Queen Grimhilde Wicked Witch in Snow White and the Evil Step-Sisters from Cinderella are all so self-righteous and vain, you needn’t worry about them, they’ll eventually all destroy themselves. But in so far as the classic Disney films, the villain in Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent is not to be toyed with and someone to be feared. (more…)
