  • The Scions of Shannara By Terry Brooks

Terry Brooks is widely viewed as the literary successor to J.R.R. Tolkien. There were many parallels between his Sword of Shannara trilogy and the Lord of The Rings. The Scions of Shannara is book one of his epic Heritage of Shannara series. These books cemented Brooks’ own literary legacy. They are utterly riveting and brilliant works that step out of Tolkien’s shadow. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite supernatural stories for several reasons. It’s an American ghost story based in historical Tarrytown, New York. Washington Irving’s haunting tale is set in 1790 – shortly after the American Revolutionary War. Being a history major/nerd, I love this era. And a ghost of a Hessian mercenary who was decapitated by stray cannon fire is kinda enjoyable for me, too. (more…)

  • My Advocacy For A Dresden Files Movie

Given the success of the Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings franchises – I’m surprised by Hollywood’s reluctance to produce more magic and urban fantasy themed films. Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files is a great candidate for a big screen production. (more…)

  • 14 Years: The Chronicles of Sir Reginald the Damned

Part Six of The Lost Children of Guérande

Reginald strode along a deep, slow churning stream. His eyes constantly scanned the brush and trees for the quarry he sought. The marsh was silent besides the soft squelching sound his boots made as he tread over the mud. The sun shined wanly through trees and Reginald tried to remain in the shadows as he moved forward.
